Grey of the Night

A Crime Novel by DSM Christensen
Synopsis (September 2025)

Melbourne – Present Day

A hiker is missing, and a murdered man is found dumped in remote bush. Approaching 50 and recently divorced, DS Laura Grey uses these cases as an excuse to avoid an appraisal that is likely to see her demoted. As she investigates with DC Sarah Green, she discovers that what should be a simple case is being thwarted by a typical lack of interest and resources from her supervisor, DI Tony Byrnes.

A prime suspect has vanished without a trace, so Laura’s chances to keep her career alive are fading fast. She must use her extensive Missing Persons skills to find someone who doesn’t want to be found. How can she bring sense to the case before it is taken away from her?

Grey of the Night is a compelling study of how initial impressions of people and circumstances often hide a deeper, conflicting reality. The truth is revealed if you are prepared to look behind the façade and form your own opinion.
