Trials of Henry
An Historical Novel by DSM Christensen
“NO MAN IS BORN EVIL”
With America under martial law, Henry Wirz is arrested for being the commander of a camp where 13,000 Union prisoners died of starvation.
Denied access to legal representation, Henry is not even privy to the charges that leave him languishing in prison.
Meanwhile, Government prosecutor Colonel Norton Chipman is tasked with unearthing evidence of a Confederate conspiracy.
When civil lawyers discover Henry’s predicament, a trial is forced to start. The prosecution and judge collude to stifle the defence and Henry is portrayed as a temperamental, barbaric, callous murderer, despite substantial evidence to the contrary.
With the clock ticking, Henry’s only hope is admitting to a conspiracy that never existed.
